Branding
The perceived image of the product you sell
A brand is more than a logo or a name.
It is the process of giving a meaning to specific products by creating and shaping a brand in consumers’ minds.
A brand provides consumers with a decision-making-shortcut when feeling indecisive about the same product from different companies.
In very simple words, a product is what you sell, a brand is the perceived image of the product you sell, and branding is the strategy to create that image.
Branding is the task of creating your identity and making it memorable (whose brand do you remember and why do you still remember it?).
It’s a strategy designed by publishers to help consumers to quickly identify their products, and give them a reason to choose their books over the competition’s, by clarifying what this particular brand is and is not.
As a writer establishing a brand is key to developing your position in the book store and online.
